Who Can Be A Superhero?

Inspired by the heroic efforts of our key workers across the country. During the COVID-19 lockdown I have written and illustrated a magical rhyming story that depicts our key workers through the eyes of a child, and what they see are their parents, auntie’s, uncles and grandparents going about their daily work as usual, but not as normal people do, but as superheroes!

The story has a different rhyme on every page which compliments each key worker’s superpower. Covering many different job roles such as NHS staff, ambulance drivers, police officers, delivery workers and more.

The Ironbridge Ogre

The Ironbridge Ogre is a children’s mythical story based in the heart of Shropshire. Following the adventure of a young girl called Kit and an Ogre who lives under the famous Ironbridge. Kit takes Cyril the Ogre to visit lots of wonderful places around Telford to show him what he has missed in fifty years – and if she can make him smile, he promises not to turn her into a pork pie! The story has been created in celebration of the 50 years of Telford.

The Wrekin Giant

The ancient borderlands of Shropshire have produced many intriguing myths and legends. Myths are stories that have been passed down over many years before they were written down. This is the story of how the Wrekin hill may have been formed and may also explain how the phrase 'going all around the Wrekin' came about. Written by Dave Weston, Illustrated by Toni Sian Williams.
